- Zero Waste Month 2023
6th January, 2023. A coordination meeting was held in Yuksam GPK hall for drafting a resolution for implementing the ban of SUP in the Yuksam Gramm Panchayat, under the banner “Refuse Single use Day” which marks the official start of the international #zerowastemonth, the meeting was held in the presence of the newly elected ward panchayats, GPK staff and KCC members, a warm welcoming speech was delivered by Mr. Khabindra Gurung(RDA) , where he also took the opportunity to address about the mile stone and achievement of GPK Yuksam in trems of waste management, he stressed about the responsibility of the people of Yuksam and the importance of Planning implementation and monitoring of policies. Miss Uden Bhuita ( President KCC) during her presentation shared some historical insights about Zero waste program, how it started and the future prospects of the village regarding the waste management. Publishing journals and documentation of the work done by the GPU NGO and the villager should be one of the top priority she added.Finally the meeting ended with the drafting of the following Resolution:
- Total Ban in the use and sale of SUP in Yuksam.
- Purchase of steel & quarter plates for lending during social events like marriage and function to avoid using SUPS.
- Donation Of Rs.60000 by KCC to purchase the quarter plates for individual wards within Yuksam GPU.
- Handing over the purchased assets to respective ward samaj with strict monitoring and auditing.
- Cleanliness drive in all ward to spread the message of waste management and the ban of single use plastic.
- Awareness program at the end of Zero waste month and distribution of assets to respective wards.
