CONSERVATION ACTIVITIES
• For sustainable development and to promote eco-friendly tourism, continuous monitoring of the level of dependency of the local community on the forest is extremely crucial. The use of fuelwood, Hunting, grazing and extraction of Non-timber forest products are some of the basic barometers which indicates the present status of the forest healthand it also acts as the yard stick to measure the extent of exploitation of the forest and wildlife.
• The managementof garbage inside the national Park, awareness about Conservation of forest/wildlife, training and development of locals to improve the quality of tourism service, management of trekking trails and trekker’s huts are some of the important ingredients in which KCC has been stressingto create the perfect ambiance for ecotourism inYuksam.
• The implementation of the Zero waste policy inside the KNP and the ban in the use of SUP bags are two major steps take up by KCC that guided people to maintain the decorum of the village and turned Yuksam as a prominent place for the tourists to visit.
